The Acting Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Mr Tony Ojukwu has called on the Nigerian Military and other security agencies to evolve measures to end the continued abduction and violation of the right to education of girls in North-East Nigeria.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has announced his resolve to shelve his presidential ambition in order to allow President Muhammadu Buhari complete his second term. He however hinted that he will contest the Imo west senatorial seat in 2019. The governor made the announcement on Sunday while inaugurating members of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) at government house Owerri.

President Muhammadu Buhari, has met with the recently released three University of Maiduguri lecturers and the 10 women abducted by insurgents in the Northeast. The lecturers who were among a group of geologists and technologists exploring for oil in Lake Chad were attacked at Magumeri area of Borno state.

Members of southern and middle belt leader’s forum have warned the presidency against declaring state of emergency in Benue State, following incessant attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The Forum in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja also called for the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for killings in the state and other parts of the country.

The senator representing Nasarawa West, Abdullahi Adamu, has accused some lawmakers on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of sabotage.

Senator Adamu who made the allegation while reacting to the proposed change of election sequence in Nigeria, however, did not name the lawmakers.

Addressing a delegation of APC members from Nasarawa State on Monday, he argued strongly that championing a course against the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 is an act of sabotage that the leadership of the party should never tolerate further.

The Presidency has announced the postponement of the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a two-paragraph statement made available to journalists on Monday in Abuja.
