Former Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, has referred to both Ibrahim Babangida and Olusegun Obasanjo's letters to President Muhammadu Buhari, as being "stupid" following their separate statements recommending that the President refrain from seeking re-election in 2019.

The former governor, while addressing the press stressed that “nobody should be deceived,” as both ex-leaders never performed better than President Buhari, during their administration.

“That is stupid. Nobody should be deceived. They have not performed better than Buhari. In what way have any of them performed better than Buhari? In fact, you can say Buhari is less exposed to so many things like corruption and so on," Mr Musa pointed out.

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Monday, commended 25 state assemblies for voting on the Constitution Amendment passed by the National Assembly in 2017.

Saraki took to Twitter on Monday, to express his excitement that 25 out of 36 states had voted on the Constitution Review amendments.

The Senate President stated that the passage of the amendments by the 25 States was a testament to the fact that “with the right vision and follow-through, we can achieve ANYTHING as a nation”

He also said that the process was a pointer that “politicians from various walks of life and various parties can still come together to get things done.”

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state, says what the Federal Government calls oil blocks in the country are in fact “ancestral properties” of the Niger Delta.

Dickson made the remarks at the foundation laying ceremony of Aziken Petroleum Refinery project at Obunagha Gbarian, Yenagoa, the state capital.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo laid the foundation for the project which is expected to take off in 2019.

The Federal Government has in two separate letters queried the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Festus Keyamo, over corruption charges filed against the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Mr. Danladi Yakubu Umar in the name of government.

The query, dated 16th February 2018, signed by the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Dayo Apata, ordered Magu to make his response to the query available to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Minister of Justice on or before Tuesday, 20th February 2018.

As the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) boasts that it will oust the ruling party in 2019, it was at the weekend inflicted by massive defections in four states.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered thousands of defectors in Niger, Kogi, Kebbi and Adamawa states.

In Minna, Niger state, while PDP National Working Committee members were at the Hilltop residence of former President Ibrahim Babangida, more than 35,000 of their members were celebrating their exit from the party.

For refusing to surrender himself to troops after declaring unwillingness to continue with his act of terrorism, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has again charged troops to capture Abubakar Shekau, the factional leader of the Boko Haram terrorists group, alive or dead.

Buratai gave the charge on Saturday, at Camp Zairo, the former Command and Control Centre of the terrorist group in the Sambisa forest during an operational visit to troops.

In 2017, the army chief gave troops a 40-day ultimatum to capture Shekau and the army recently offered a N3million reward for information on him.
