The All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River State chapter has suspended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru. The Minister was suspended on Saturday by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Party after he allegedly held several meetings with some members of the party with the intent of creating a parallel State Executive Council of the party.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said the endless killings by terrorist elements in Africa can only end if leaders work assiduously toward curtailing terrorism financing.  The President according to a statement issued by his media aide, Shehu Garba stated this on Saturday evening at the meeting of the African Union and Security Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has criticised the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali for comments allegedly made by him where he blamed the herdsmen killings in Benue on the implementation of the anti-grazing law 2017. Ortom described it as rather unfortunate, adding that if an Honourable Minister could make such comments then there may be no end in sight and justice for victims of herdsmen attacks.

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to join other heads of states and governments at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia on Friday, to participate in the 30th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU).

The President, who is to speak on “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation,” was also engaged by the AU during the last session to discuss on anti-corruption in Africa.

Apart from anti-corruption, other issues lined up for discussion will include; peace and security (transnational terrorism), institutional reforms of the continental body, free movement of persons, climate change, trade, aviation, education, gender and development.

Gov. Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa has denied nursing any ambition to contest the 2019 presidential election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The governor who made his position known in a statement issued on Saturday in Dutse by his media aide, Malam Bello Zaki also disowned and disassociated himself from a group supporting him to run for the presidency in the 2019 general elections.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday signed the National Senior Citizens Center Bill 2018 and seven others. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, disclosed this to State House correspondents. The National Senior Citizens Centre Act establishes the National Senior Citizens Centre in the country to cater for the needs of senior citizens.
