The Governor of Anambra state and the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Willie Obiano was yesterday declared the winner of the governorship election conducted on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Gov. Obiano was declared winner after winning all the twenty one Local Government Areas in the state.

Former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme has been confirmed dead. According to a statement issued by his brother and the Traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra state, Igwe Laz Ekwueme , the former Vice President died on Sunday night around 10:00pm in London where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Edwin Clark Mocks Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, Calls Them 'Laptop Militants'
A leader of the Niger Delta region and one of the founders of Pan-Niger Delta Forum, (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark said the forum is not intimidated by the recent threat by some purported members of Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) to resume hostilities in the region. Clark who described the threat as coming from 'laptop militants' said these boys usually sit in their houses to release statement.
NULGE Raises Alarm Over Planned Disengagement Of 4, 180 LG Workers By Gov. El-Rufai
The Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) on Saturday raised alarm over plot by the Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-rufai to sack local government workers in the state. The National President of NULGE, Comrade Ibrahim Khaleed, who spoke on behalf of the union while addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital also faulted the recent competency test conducted for teachers by the Kaduna state government.

Jonathan Speaks On Allegation Of N5BN Pension Fraud
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has debunked claims by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) that he received N5bn monthly from the pension fund. The Former President made the clarification of Saturday in a brief statement issued to newsmen in Abuja by his media adviser, Ikechukwu Eze. In the statement Jonathan said there was no iota of truth in Malami's allegation as he never collected money from the pension fund.
