The Nigerian Senate has stated that it will go ahead with the probe of the allegations against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, despite the charges filed against the Senator representing Bauchi Central in the National Assembly, Hamman Isah Misau, over alleged forgery,
Misau had accused Idris of engaging in bribery, corruption and gross misconduct.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, Sam Anyanwu, disclosed this while speaking with journalists in Abuja.
Responding to questions on whether the committee would continue with the probe, as the AGF had filed a suit against Misau on behalf of the IGP, Anyanwu said; “the committee or the Senate is not a party to the suit.”
Meanwhile, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has also directed that the committee should probe into the circumstances surrounding Misau’s dismissal from the Nigeria Police.
