Kelechi Iheanacho Scores First Premier League Hat-trick In Sheffield Mauling

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho bagged his first EPL hat-trick in Leicester City’s 5-0 mauling of Sheffield United. The forward who has now bagged nine goals in all competition this season has become the fifth Nigerian to score an EPL Hatrick.

Iheanacho who has been enjoying game time after injury to James Madison and Harvey Barnes is now becoming more confident in games and goals are now trooping in with 50 goals in 76 starts.

The last three hat-tricks in the EPL has been scored by African players; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang against Leeds and Riyad Mahrez against Burnley and Iheanacho on Sunday against Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old has now joined Efan Ikoku, Kanu Nwankwo, and Osaze Odemwingie on one EPL hatrick each, he is now on course to meet up and beat Yakubu Aiyegbeni record of 4 hat-tricks. He alongside teammate, Wilfred Ndidi will join the Super Eagles for the AFCON Qualifying matches against Benin Republic and Lesotho later in March.
