Everton is reportedly set to submit a late-minute bid for Chelsea Striker, Michy Batshuayi, as the club intensify efforts toward securing a replacement for Romelu Lukaku who moved away from the Goodison Park to Old Trafford. According to Foot Mercato, a French news outlet, Batshuayi has surfaced as Ronald Koeman's preferred target as the manager seeks to strengthen his squad.
The decision to seal Batshuayi's deal became expedient after the club appears to have failed to secure a loan deal for Chelsea outcast, Diego Costa due to wage-related concerns. Costa who would be eligible to move permanently to Atletico Madrid in January was targeted by Everton. The club however said it was not prepared to pay the 184, 000 Pounds weekly wages demanded by the player.
Batshuayi's place in Chelsea team remains threatened following the arrival of Morata from Real Madrid. Although the Batman started the first game, Morata had since become a regular starter.
Already, Eden Hazard has advised the player to seek regular playing time if he wants to improve his game. He said such opportunities could even be in other clubs, a development that suggests that the player's time in Stanford Bridge might be over.
