In a bid to beat the summer transfer deadline, Chelsea Football Club has reportedly submitted the third bid for Leicester City midfielder, Danny Drinkwater to facilitate his move to Stanford Bridge. Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph reported on Thursday via his Twitter handle that the new bid is made up of a £27m initial payment and inflated by several add-ons that promise to take any deal north of £30m.
According to him "Chelsea have made a new bid worth over £30m for Danny Drinkwater. Around £27m plus add-ons, I'm told. Over to Leicester #CFC #LCFC."
Chelsea is said to be desperate to strengthen their squad after a poor start in the EPL, losing to Burnley. Although the club had since put their asses together, defeating the likes of Tottenham and Everton, Manager Antonio Conte is desperate for options given future congested fixtures both at the domestic and continental levels.
Chelsea had earlier secured the signing of Bakayoko, Rudiger and prolific striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid among others.
The deal may be as good as done as the player was reported to have handed in his transfer request to force his move.
Meanwhile, the Foxes are believed to have secured Drinkwater's replacement. Adrien Silva of Sporting CP may be headed to Leicester, as Drinkwater leaves.
