Agbede Appointed Acting CEO Of Access Holdings

Access Holdings Plc has announced the appointment of Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following the unexpected death of the former CEO, Herbert Wigwe in a helicopter crash on Friday in America, where his wife, son and other passengers were also killed. This development was made known on Monday in a statement issued by Access Holdings Plc.


The statement reads in part, “Further to its announcement dated February 11, 2024, the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc (‘the company’) has today announced the appointment of Ms Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company following the unfortunate demise of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024.”

Prior to her appointment, Agbede was the most senior founding Executive Director in charge of Business Support within the company and will be the Acting CEO until approval by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos in 1990 and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Cranfield University, United Kingdom in 2002.

Agebede has close to three decades worth of professional experience in the banking and banking consultancy services and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management in Nigeria.
