The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Peace Airlines, Mr Allen Onyema has revealed that the airline was planning to start flight operations to New York and Houston in the United States by the end of 2024. He made this known during an interview on ARISE News Channel, where he spoke about the airline’s Lagos to London route, adding that the company was in the process of purchasing more aircrafts.
He said, “Air Peace is ready and prepared to take on more flights. Already, there are 7 Air Peace flights going into Gatwick Airport from Nigeria daily.
“Nigeria has a balance of about 14 to do. We are ready, if the government gives us Abuja-London, I will do it, because we are expecting more aircraft into the country purchased by Air Peace. If we get, we will do it.”
Speaking on the airline’s plans about flights to New York and Houston, he said, “As I speak to you, my staff are in California, the engineering technical services department are in California inspecting some three 777s we want to acquire and buy. So, if we could get them in the next 2 or 3 months, then of course, we are good to go anywhere.”
As a result of the company’s recent Lagos-London flights, foreign airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and others have been forced to reduce their prices to stay competitive.
A return economy ticket on foreign airlines cost as high as N3.5m but Air Peace has set their economy class ticket for N1.2m.
