The Federal Government has confirmed the payment of the final tranche of the Paris Club refund to 27 state governments as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari. The Director of Home Finance, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Siyanbola Olabunmi confirmed the payment on Saturday while speaking at the end of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry in Abuja.

She disclosed that 27 state governments have already been paid while ten others are yet to be paid. She explained that the delay in the payment of the refund to the 10 states was primarily due to administrative issues.

Mrs. Olabunmi said the payment was in compliance with the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Finance Minister and the Minister of Budget and Planning that the refund be paid to state governments to enable them pay outstanding salary arrears before Christmas celebration.

Recall that the Federal Government had released the second tranche of the Paris Club refund in July.
