A United States Central District Court sitting in California has adjoined the sentencing of the alleged fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppy till November 7, making the adjournment its fourth time. Hushpuppy was arrested in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, UAE, by the FBI in connection with allegations bordering on hacking, impersonation, scamming, bank fraud, and identity theft where he was flown to the united states for onwards prosecution.
His activities come to bear when the UAE police detailed his arrest where he was accused of defrauding about 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168million.
In July last year, Hushpuppy promised to plead guilty to his fraud crime slammed against him by the authorities.
Subsequently, he entered into a plea bargain with the US government in July 2021 so that his sentence would be lessened.
However, the Presiding Judge, Otis Wright has fixed November 7 for his sentencing.
Accordingly, the court announced adjournment of the sentencing as; “COUNSEL ARE NOTIFIED, the Sentencing is CONTINUED to November 7, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. as to Defendant Ramon Olorunwa Abbas”.
Earlier, the sentencing was initially shifted from February 14, 2022, to 11 June, by Justice Wright then later to September 21, and now to November 7.
