Actor Jamie Foxx Hospitalized Following ‘Medical Complication’

American actor, comedian, and singer, Eric Marlon Bishop, known professionally as Jamie Foxx, has been hospitalized in Atlanta following a “medical complication”. The Oscar winner’s family confirmed the development on Wednesday on Instagram. His daughter Corinne Foxx wrote “We wanted to share that my father Jamie Foxx experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily due to quick action and great care he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.” Fans and colleagues sent their well wishes and prayers on social media once the news broke.


Jamie Foxx is one of the most talented entertainers in the business. He’s a comedian, actor, singer and host. He was most recently seen as a down on his luck vampire hunter in the Netflix action/comedy Day Shift. Up next, he co-stars with John Boyega and Teyonah Parris in the Netflix sci-fi film They Cloned Tyrone, which premieres June 14 in Miami at the 27th American Black Film Festival. It debuts on Netflix on July 21. His Fox game show, Beat Shazam.

Foxx, 55, won the best actor Oscar in 2005 for his portrayal of the pianist and singer Ray Charles in the biopic, Ray and was nominated for best supporting actor the same year for his role in Tom Cruise drama Collateral.

Other key films include Django Unchained, White House Down, Annie, Jarhead and the Spider-Man franchise.

He has two children, Corinne and Annalise Bishop.
