Renowned Nigerian hip-pop twins, Peter and Paul Okoye, PSquare, are at each other again barely a year after a protracted face-off.
And if a letter by Peter sent to their lawyer Festus Keyamo (SAN) is anything to go by, then the twins may have been split irredeemably from their decades dominating PSquare brand.
In the letter now viral on social media, Peter raised weighty allegations against both Paul and their elder brother Jude, including those bordering on assault and even murder.
“I have decided to use this medium as a means to terminate the agreement between Psquare,” he wrote.
“I have tried and exhausted all my options to make this work. However it seems as if Paul is not willing to cooperate. For example, he cancelled our U.S. tour without discussing it with me.”
Recalling their infamous fallout which lasted from late 2015 to 2016, Peter wrote “We even agreed to shoot and post a video individually to apologise to our fans. I released my video, whoever Paul and Jude refuse (sic) to release theirs.
“These has tarnished my character and made me a victim as the bad guy to the public.”
In a repeat of his allegations last year that Jude ganged up with Paul against him, Peter further revealed that his elder brother had once threatened to kill him.
“Me and my wife have been getting different threatening messages. I fear for my life and the life of my family. I cannot continue with PSquare in conditions like this that will jeopardise my wellbeing.
“Remember, Jude has threatened to kill me and shoot my wife in the presence of Paul and Mrs Imoke ( former First Lady of Cross River State) and repeated it several times in front of you,” he wrote, addressing Keyamo.
Noting that his will always put his immediate family first, Peter wished Paul and Jude the best going forward from the split.
Many fans had waved off their initial dispute as a publicity stunt as has become customary in the showbiz industry but the obvious relapse in the relationship less than a year after several prominent persons reconcile them, points to something more serious.
While both parties have never admitted it openly, Vigil360 inquiries reveal that their wives may be at the centre of the incessant bickering.
While Paul and Jude married Igbo women, Anita Isama and Ifeoma Umeokeke, respectively, Peter married a Yoruba woman of Russian descent, Lola Omotayo.
In a 2013 interview with HipTv, Paul had revealed that contrary to popular practices of twins wedding on the same day, he was going to wed on different dates with Peter as their wives’ tribes meant the traditional marriages couldn’t hold together.
They also didn’t have their court weddings together even though the ceremonies were both held at the Federal Marriage Registry in Ikoyi, Lagos and within just 5 days of each other in 2015. Paul was first to wed at the registry on January 22 and Peter followed on January 27.
