Charles Oputa, popularly known by his stage name Charly Boy said he will lead fresh protest to the Headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on Monday to seek immediate extradition of the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison Madueke who has been accused to stealing billions of Naira in cash and assets. Charly Boy disclosed this in a statement co-signed by the leader of Concerned Nigeria Group, Deji Adeyanju.
The statement read;
“Following recent mind-boggling allegations of corruption and wanton looting of public funds and the collective patrimony of Nigerian citizens by the former minister for petroleum, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, we call on the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to apply for her extradition from the United Kingdom to face prosecution in Nigeria"
“Furthermore, a federal high court has ordered Mrs Alison-Madueke to permanently forfeit several luxurious properties in several high brow areas across the country to the federal government. It is therefore unimaginable that the federal government is not pushing for Mrs Alison-Madueke’s extradition to face punishment for her alleged crimes."
The statement added that “in this light, we will be holding a two-day sit out in front of the EFCC headquarters to demand that the federal government applies for her extradition and prosecution in Nigeria.”
The duo recently staged a protest tagged "Our Mumu Don Do", seeking the "Return or Resignation" of President Buhari who was receiving medical treatment in the United Kingdom for an undisclosed ailment. The protest came after the president failed to return to the country, after about 100 days.
Meanwhile, the president has since returned to the country.
