Emerging reports indicate that at least, 7 Muslims were killed and dozens wounded when two suicide bombers attacked a Mosque in Bama on Sunday morning. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Northeast division however, disclosed on its Facebook page that causalities recorded were mostly male adults. The post also said the suicide bombers were male and female, believed to be between 13 and 14 years old.


"2 suicide bombers (Male and female) of approximate age 13 to 14 years invaded a mosque around BAMA Dina area of Shehuri /Mairi/ Hausari ward of Bama town at about 5:15am this morning and detonated IEDs when people are in the middle of prayers"


Another emergency source quoted by Dailytrust reported that those wounded were currently receiving treatment in Bama hospital.


"So far five civilians were killed instantly but there were several with critical injuries. So, we have called the state Emergency Management Agency, we are expecting them to come and evacuate the injured to Maiduguri."


"Mobilization is ongoing for transportation to secondary health facility in Maiduguri for the survivors. Emergency management officials, police IED team, military personnel and CJTF are currently participating in joint evacuation process."


Meanwhile, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Bama Council, BaShehu Gulumba who confirmed the incident said normalcy had since returned to the area following the presence of security operatives.
