The Department of State Services has cleared the air on purported recruitment that was making rounds in some media outlets warning the general public not to fall prey to job scammers hook as the service was not currently hiring.
This was issued in a statement by, Dr. Peter Afunaya, the spokesperson of the secret police that there was no iota of truth in the claim that the agency was currently hiring people.
The statement partly reads; “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it is not currently carrying out any recruitment exercise.
“This clarification has become necessary in view of desperate efforts by fraudsters to scam unsuspecting job seekers or their sponsors.
According to Afunaya, members of the general public that recruitment into the DSS is not made on monetary services, instead it is guided by merit and transparency. He said qualified persons undergo some series of screening which start right from their states of origin until the required number is selected.
The spokesperson reiterated that “In the context of this, members of the public should be mindful of attempts by fraudulent persons and groups to fleece them of their hard-earned money. They should rather report to the Service any suspicion in this regard.
Meanwhile, he warned that those who venture into scamming the general public on the pretense that they are doing it for the DSS, the service would get to them in no time and will be dealt with accordingly.
He revealed that right now the Service is sustaining efforts on clamping down on the activities of fake job syndicates illegally using its name to deceive and scam the public,” urging them to desist from such futile adventure to avoid falling into trap of the law.
