Former Chairman of the Committee on Persecution of Bandits Related Offences in Zamfara state, Sani Shinkafi has call on the national Youth Service corps, NYSC, against posting its corps members to states like Zamfara , Kebbi and Sokoto states. He made the call today on a Channels Television breakfast programme, “Subrise Daily” reminding the federal government of the dangers involve in sending its youth corps members to unsafe states in the country especially the one infested by banditry.

Shinkafi call is coming two weeks after armed bandits kidnapped eight corps members of the NYSC along high way in Zamfara state.

He said, “I’m calling on the leadership of NYSC to stop posting youth corps members to Sokoto, Kebbi, and even Zamfara.”

Although, he faulted the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for allegedly refusing to engage in a meaningful discussion “peace dialogue” with repentant bandits, so that the pogrom will be brought to its end.

According to Shinkafi, the stance taken by the former Governor of the State, Bello Matawalle, to dialogue with terrorists was beneficial to the security of the state.

“If this type of situation happens, we use to reach out to these repented bandits and they would work with security agencies to either rescue them or collect them from their captors without paying any ransom.

“But this administration, I am telling you, many people were killed, many people were kidnapped. More than 2,000 people were killed and kidnapped. No place in the 14 local governments of Zamfara is safe,” he said.
