There was serious chaos and panic as fire erupted in part of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos, Nigeria. It was reported that the fire started on Tuesday night. It was gathered that the fire was caused by a cable malfunction on the Tarmac, which resulted in the destruction of some parts of FAAN's administrative office.
The personnel of FAAN, and Lagos State Fire services were on the scene working hand in hand to contain the fire and prevent it from causing more damage in other parts of the Airport that were not affected by the fire.
The FAAN's Director of Public Affairs and Consumers Protection, Abdullahi Yakubu Funtua applauded the effort made by the agencies to bring the damage to its minimal.
In his words, “In accordance with our unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers, staff, and all airport users, the Terminal building was promptly evacuated due to the smoke that had permeated some areas of the facility.
“We are pleased to report that the situation is presently under control.
“FAAN remains committed to her core values of safety, security, and comfort.”
