The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, supported by his Nigerien counterpart, Governor of Tahoua, Abdourahman Mousa have flagged off Sokoto-Niger Republic International Transport Service to boost trade and economic activities between Nigerians in Sokoto state with the French speaking country.
The transport service owned by a private company is to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers between Sokoto-Nigeria and Niger republic.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Sokoto, as part of activities marking the nation Democracy Day, Tambuwal said investing in transportation was an essential effort at driving the economy to prosperity.
According to the Governor, the two countries of Nigeria and Niger shared some similarities in trade and economic activities propelled by the common border existing between the two ends.
“This development will further foster better and sustainable economic ties and promote trade with beneficial gains and it will genuinely boost our social relations, understanding and productivity”, the Governor said.
The Governor noted that his administration was committed to the provision of infrastructure across the state for the benefit of the people.
