The Presidency has slammed Senator Danjuma Goje over his criticism of the Buhari administration’s Social Investment Programme (SIP). Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Laolu Akande, said contrary to Goje’s view, the programme is touching the lives of many Nigerians. Akande denied the claim that the SIP has received over a N1trn already.

The Nigerian Army on Saturday said its troops killed five boko haram insurgents in a gun battle at Barkin-Dutse Area in Adamawa State. The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.General Texas Chukwu said that the troops engaged and killed the insurgents following a distressed call by hunters on Friday.

The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has lambasted former President, Olusegun Obasanjo for his attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari. Obasanjo recently advised Nigerians not to re-elect Buhari in 2019. But the group in a statement signed by its National President, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, on Friday, slammed the ex president for the comment.

Northern Youths Warn Obasanjo Over Increasing Attacks On President Buhari

Northern youths under the aegis of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) have berated former President, Olusegun Obasanjo over his increasing media attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.

Recall that after his scathing letter, Obasanjo again called on Nigerians not to reinforce failure by supporting the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

The youths in a statement signed by their National President, Alhaji Yerima Shettima on Friday slammed the ex-president accusing him of laying the foundation for some of the challenges currently confronting the country. They maintained that haven contributed to the nation's challenge, Obasanjo lacks the moral right to be critical of any administration.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday congratulated, Senator David Mark, former Senate President, and Senator representing Zone C Constituency of Benue, on his 70th birthday. The President also felicitated with the family, friends and political associates of the senator. President Buhari, who saluted the senator as he turned a septuagenarian, commended the maturity, stability and focused legislation that he instituted in the upper chamber during the eight years he served as senate president.

Nigeria Customs Speaks On Introduction Of New Uniform

Following concerns over the recent introduction of a new set of uniform by the management of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the organization has issued a statement to explain the rationale for the action.

In an interview with Dailypost on Friday, the Public Relations Officer of the Service, DC Joseph Attah stated that the uniform would be used by officers in the office or at the airport. He explained that the uniform would not be worn by its operatives on patrol, adding that the additional uniform was introduced so that Customs operatives would not have to wear one uniform all through the month.

The race of who will become the next national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress has intensified following the decision of its national leadership to hold fresh congresses where new officers will be elected.

Among those angling to replace the current chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, are a former Governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomohle; a former President of the Senate, Chief Ken Nnamani; and the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonna Onu.

A former Governor of Cross River State, Chief Clement Ebri, is also reported to have announced his intention to join the race.
