The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has faulted the claimed peddle in some quarters that he was planning to dump the All Progressive Congress (APC) in a wave of heated politicking. Obaseki kicked against the claim during his meeting with the “Obaseki Mandate Group’ in Abuja on Tuesday, saying he was optimistic he will actualise his second tenure on the platform of the APC.
The Governor said that it was untrue that he was scheming to cross carpet to another party in an event he could not secure the ticket of the APC after the slated APC primary election come June 22.
He enjoined the people of Edo state to consider peoples track record before making up their mind on who shall lead them, saying he was humbled by the kind of mammoth crowd that paid for his nomination form.
In his statement, “Several of my supporters had expressed interest in paying for my expression of interest and nomination forms on any platform I choose.
“But I had made up my mind to stick to the platform which brought me into the office to serve the Edo people, which is the All Progressives Congress,” he added.
Recall Governor Obaseki has locked horns with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman for long.
Obaseki presented his Expression of Interest form to President Buhari on Monday.
After the meeting, he told house correspondence of the Buhari’s support for his ambition.
Meanwhile, when asked about his loggerhead with Oshiomhole, he said, the former Governor was misguided when he took his current position.
However, Oshiomhole has announced that the party has adopted a direct primary.
