Natasha Akpoki-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been sworn in as the senator representing Kogi central Senatorial district. The Senate President Mr. Godswill Akpabio directed the clerk of the senate Mr. Chinedu Akubueze, to administer the oath of office on her on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Thursday.

The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal, in Lokoja, had ruled earlier in September that Akpoti-Uduaghan had won the February senatorial election, overturning Senator Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress’ triumph.

However, Ohere headed to the Appeal Court to overturn the judgement sighting “Irregularities” but the court upheld the decision of the tribunal.

The appellate court said Sadiku-Ohere’s appeal lacked merit.
