The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff says those describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the 2015 presidential election are doing so in error as Nigerians voted for Muhammadu Buhari and not the APC.

The embattled National Chairman of the PDP made the statement through the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the Party, Bernard Mikko, while reacting to the increasing defection of his members to the APC.

“We know some members might want to leave (because of the registration of the new parties), it is possible. However, the registration of these parties is good for our democracy. Members (of the PDP) that may want to move to other political are the same as proliferation of political parties don’t change people".

He admitted that “majority of the people in the All Progressives Congress are from the PDP. The APC didn’t win the last election; it was won by President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Mikko further assured members of the party to remain steadfast as efforts were ongoing to reposition the party ahead of the 2019 general election, stressing that the PDP will win overwhelmingly.
