President Muhammadu Buhari has presented Mrs Aishah Ahmad to the Senate for confirmation as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). She is to replace a former deputy governor, who retired early this year. The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, announced this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) refuted claims of allegations by the wife of the country’s former president that it had conducted a “witch-hunt” against her, Reuters said. Patience Jonathan, whose husband Goodluck Jonathan was the president of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, accused the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of an “orchestrated plan” to tarnish her reputation and that of her husband.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu, has voiced his frustrations over what he claimed are “disrespectful and humiliating conducts” by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru.

The Police arraigned two persons before a Magistrate court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, for supplying false information to the Monitoring Team of the Inspector-General Of Police. The defendants, Francis Babatunde and John James both pleaded guilty to a two-Count charge of conspiring to cause harm to the younger brother of the Bayelsa State Governor, Moses Oruaze Dickson for alleging that he was in possession of fire arms.
