The Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Monday said he will never yield to pressure in discharging his duties ahead of the 2019 general elections. He made this known when he appeared Channels Television’s Roadmap 2019.

He disclosed that since his assumption of duties at the Commission, he had never come under any pressure from any quarters assuring that in an event of any pressure, he would put up stiff resistance.

According to him

“Since I assumed duty on the 9th of November 2015, I have been under no pressure from any quarter at all and this commission will never yield to any pressure from any quarter. I have been under no pressure to do what is wrong and I will never do what is wrong. So, I think there is a sufficiency of guise in the law; the independence is what we make of that independence.”

He assured that the Commission was working hard to ensure that elections were conducted without prejudice.
