Two weeks after the Gubernatorial and National Assembly elections, Anambra South Senator-elect, Ifeanyi Ubah, has dumped the Young People's Party (YPP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, made the announcement of Ubah’s defection on Monday.
Oshiohmole informed the APC National Working Committee members, returning/newly-elected senators at the Presidential Villa, on Monday, that Ubah was now with the ruling party.
Describing Ubah as a ‘smart politician Oshiomhole in his opening remark, said the “YPP Senator-elect from Anambra South has decided to pitch tent with the ruling party because he felt more comfortable with the winning team.”
He, however, added that other issues related to Ubah’s defection would be perfected on a later date.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has renounced its earlier declaration Ubah as the winner of last Saturday’s Anambra South senatorial election.
In a letter written and addressed to the Anambra Resident Electoral Commissioner on February 27, the Returning Officer for the senatorial election, Prof Meshach Umenweke, said the election that gave Ifeanyi Ubah a controversial victory was now declared inconclusive.
This is coming after Ubah was declared winner of the election having polled 87,081 votes to defeat the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Congress (APC), and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).
