Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF) has withdrawn the quit notice it issued to the Igbos living in the northern part of the country. The coalition of Northern youth groups has asked Igbos to leave Northern Nigeria on or before October 1, claiming their demand was in response to secessionist stance of some pro-Biafran groups, like Nnamdi Kanu’s IPOB.

The groups, under the banner of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, announced the suspension at a press conference in Transcorp Hotel, Abuja.

The suspension was following series of meetings between Arewa youth and Borno state governor, kashim Shettima, Kabiru Gaya, a former governor of Kano state, Sani Daura, ex-minister, amongst others.

The quit notice issued by the northern youth elicited widespread condemnation from relevant stakeholders across the nation, calling for the arrest of the youth.
