Premier League side AFC Bournemouth have sacked manager, Scott Parker a few weeks into the new season. The club made the announcement on Tuesday morning on its official website stating that Parker will be replaced in the interim by former Bournemouth midfielder, Gary O’Neil.
Heading back to his former club, RB Leipzig after completing his deal, Timo Werner is already missing Stamford Bridge where he experienced a tough period of his football career. Werner has today sealed a deal of going back to Leipzig for a deal of £25million after completing a medical. Some commentators opined that the departure of the German international has brought an end to his boring two years at the London Club where he was signed in for a whooping £47.5million during the year 2020.
President Muhammadu Buhari has said football remains the number one sport in Nigeria, a national asset that his administration will not allow to be undermined. President Buhari declared this when he received the 10-year Football Development Masterplan submitted by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, on Tuesday in Abuja. While describing football as "our passion and a major tool for unity," the president said "Is is the responsibility of the government to safeguard the sport, which has brought Nigeria many laurels and treat it as a national asset. Indeed, just as I expect, I demand, a higher standard of patriotism, responsibility, and commitment from those charged with the administration of our football." Buhari also urged stakeholders to work together constructively and patriotically. “We have seen attempts to disrespect and undermine the institutions supervising our sports. We have seen attempts to subjugate national interest for narrow interest or disrespect the laws of Nigeria. Nigeria will not take lightly any attempt to inflict injury on its football fortunes,” he said.
Manchester United Legend, Gary Neville had foreseen that the Arsenal midfielder, Granit Xhaka will disappoint Arteta and let him down at some point in the season while passing comments on the player. The Legend warned Arsenal that they should prepare their mind for the eventuality. He said, Xhaka has been a divisive figure in the squad of the Arsenal fan base, though attributed it to the player's past disciplinary record but Arteta has always been fond of him at every opportunity when he is to throw in players.
