Dangote Refinery has received its fourth shipment of one million barrels of bonny light crude supplied by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The Dangote Oil Refining Company, a $20bn firm in a statement released on Sunday, expressed expectations of receiving the fifth shipment soon. "Preparations are in top gear for the commencement of production of Dangote Refinery, as the petrochemical company has received the fourth crude shipment of one million barrels of bonny light crude supplied by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), and expecting the fifth crude shipment, anytime from now," the company said. "The fresh one million barrels of crude was the fourth consignment to be delivered to the Dangote facility out of the six million barrels of crude being expected by the world's largest single-train refinery."
According to the statement, Akin Omole, the managing director of Dangote ports operations, informed journalists at the Dangote Quay, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, that the refinery anticipates receiving approximately four million crude shipments by the end of 2023, with the remaining two million expected at the beginning of January 2024.
Dangote said the refinery will commence production of diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and premium motor spirit (PMS), once six million barrels are delivered.
The 650,000 barrels per day capacity Dangote refinery can meet 100 per cent of Nigeria’s requirement of all refined petroleum products plus petrol, diesel, kerosene, and jet fuel, and also has a surplus of each of these products for export purpose.
Dangote Refinery has a self-sufficient marine facility with the ability to handle the largest vessel globally obtainable, from where it has been receiving the crude oil shipments.
