Following several media reports that electricity distribution companies popularly known as DisCos were planning to increase electricity tariff from January 1, 2024, the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) stated it has not issued any approval for such.
This claim by the Commission was contained in a statement issued by NERC’s spokesperson, Usman Abba Arabi.
The statement reads in part, “The Commission has not approved any new electricity tariffs for any of the electricity distribution companies within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.
“No new electricity tariff has been approved. Nigerians should ignore any news reports about new electricity tariff coming up on 1st January 2024.”
