The Executive Director Programme, at the National Television Authority (NTA), Wole Coker has called on movie producers in Nollywood to give preference to good scripts in order to enjoy improved patronage. The Director made the statement in an interview with newsmen at the Abuja Guest Writer's Forum.
Coker lamented that some of the movies produced in Nigeria do not have the requisite structure as most producers and directors seek to simply release movies without paying attention to structure and content. He disclosed that a good movie should have the beginning, the middle and the end.
“Script is a major backbone for any production; television production cannot be successful without a tangible and sensible scripting. You should make sure your scripts are good and tight. Do not monopolies your script; give it to someone else to review it for you. This is because you may derail when you get attached to your script"
“When you finish production, give it to an editor that is not there when you were writing the script to edit for you; that way he or she can be dispassionate about cutting away those parts that appears padded"
“It is always good to get a second opinion about a script,” Coker stressed.
