The wreck of a US aircraft carrier that was sunk during World War Two has been found off the coast of Australia.

The USS Lexington was located at a depth of about 3km (2 miles) in the Coral Sea, about 800km off Australia's east coast.

The ship was lost in the Battle of the Coral Sea from 4-8 May 1942. More than 200 crew members died in the fighting.

The UN has called for the protection of big cats species such as lions, tigers and leopards, warning that they are fast going into extinction.

The UN spoke against the backdrop of the 2018 World Wildlife Day, celebrated every March 3, with the theme: “Big cats: predators under threat’’.

According to the UN, the big cats are under increasing threat, mostly caused by human activities.

The United States will overtake Russia as the world's biggest oil producer by 2019 at the latest, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Tuesday, as the country's shale oil boom continues to upend global markets. IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol said at an event in Tokyo the United States would overtake Russia as the biggest crude oil producer "definitely next year", if not this year.

The governor of Missouri has been indicted and taken into custody for circulating photographs of his bound and partially nude lover, local media reported Thursday.

Governor Eric Greitens was arrested Thursday afternoon on the first floor of Carnahan Courthouse in St Louis, according to an eyewitness report by a journalist from the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

Greitens was charged with invasion of privacy which was apparently linked to media reports last month that he had allegedly threatened to transmit photographs of the woman with whom he was having an affair.

The Trump Organization hired Brad Parscale, 42, in 2011 as a digital media guru.

The local sheriff has disclosed that an armed officer assigned to the Florida school where a gunman killed 17 people last week stood outside the building during the shooting and did not intervene.

Deputy Scot Peterson has resigned after being suspended, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced the construction of a border wall replacement near downtown Calexico, about 190 km east of San Diego in the state of California.

It’s the first border construction project contract awarded by the President Donald Trump administration, aside from eight different prototypes of border wall that were built near the Otay Mesa border crossing San Diego.

The Trump administration told U.S. Congress last month that it wants 18 billion U.S. dollars over the next decade for the initial phase of a U.S.-Mexico border wall.
