A Canadian billionaire and his wife have been found dead at their home in Toronto in circumstances that police described as "suspicious". The bodies of Barry Sherman and his wife Honey were found in the basement by an estate agent, reports said. Mr Sherman was the founder and chairman of pharmaceutical giant Apotex, which sells generic medicines around the world. He was one of Canada's richest men and a prominent philanthropist.

A state lawmaker in Kentucky, U.S., Rep. Dan Johnson, has committed suicide after report emerged that he sexually assaulted a woman when she was 17. Reports say the 57-year-old lawmaker, a preacher and a Republican, shot himself on a bridge in Mt. Washington, southeast of Louisville.

US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson says the United States is willing to engage North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un in dialogue without preconditions. Tillerson who stated this on Tuesday at the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC, maintained that the US "cannot accept" a nuclear-armed North Korea but called on the two countries to begin a dialogue. According to him "We've said from the diplomatic side, we're ready to talk anytime North Korea would like to talk. And we're ready to have the first meeting without precondition.

An explosion rocked New York’s Port Authority Bus Terminal, one of the city’s busiest commuter terminal, on Monday morning and police said one suspect was injured and in custody, with three other injuries reported. Police were not yet identifying the device used. Local television channel WABC cited police sources as saying a possible improvised explosion device was detonated in a passageway below ground.

A state representative in Kentucky shot and killed himself Wednesday evening, officials said -- just days after a report emerged in which a woman said he sexually assaulted her when she was 17.

Rep. Dan Johnson, a preacher and a Republican, shot himself on a bridge in Mt. Washington, southeast of Louisville, Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell told WDRB. His body turned up on a riverbank near the bridge and the weapon reportedly was found at the scene. He was 57.

Earlier Wednesday evening, WDRB said Johnson took to Facebook to post about the accusations leveled against him, claiming they were “false” and “only GOD knows the truth.”

A US report has recommended a full investigation into France's role in the Rwandan genocide should be carried out.

Barack Obama urged Americans to defend democracy in a speech to the Economic Club of Chicago in which he appeared to use the rise of Adolf Hitler as a warning against the rise of bigotry and nativism under President Donald Trump.

Although he did not refer to Mr Trump by name, it brought accusations that a former president was comparing the current president with one of the most reviled leaders in history.

In the speech on Tuesday, Mr Obama told his audience that the danger was of “grow[ing] complacent”, according to Crain’s Chicago Business newspaper.
