The judge overseeing the case involving U.S. former national security adviser Michael Flynn has withdrew himself from the matter. It would be recalled that Flynn pleaded guilty in a federal court last week for lying to the FBI in January about his contacts with former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is planning a trip to Africa in the first three months of 2018, a senior aide said. Earlier on Wednesday, Tillerson said there was no truth to reports that President Donald Trump intended to fire him and replace him with CIA chief Mike Pompeo.

President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital on Wednesday and announced plans to relocate the US Embassy there, a move expected to inflame tensions in the region and unsettle the prospects for peace.

"I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel," Trump said from White House's Diplomatic Reception Room. "After more than two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians."

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to fully enforce the latest travel ban targeting people from six Muslim-majority countries as the ban goes into full effect even as legal challenges continue in lower courts. The nine-member court, with two liberal justices dissenting, granted his administration’s request to lift two injunctions imposed by lower courts that had partially blocked the ban, which is the third version of a contentious policy that Trump first sought to implement a week after taking office in January.

The anti-harassment #MeToo movement was named Time magazine’s Person of the Year, in what the magazine termed “The Silence Breakers – the voices that launched the movement agianst sexual harassment.”

In the wake of revelations about Harvey Weinstein and other men, millions have shared their stories about being sexually harassed and assaulted.

The announcement was made Wednesday on NBC’s Today show, where longtime host Matt Lauer was recently fired amid harassment allegations. Today host Savannah Guthrie acknowledged that this year’s winner hits “close to home” and mentioned Lauer by name.

 

President Donald Trump will today announce that the U.S. will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will move the embassy there, senior administration officials said. The officials said the embassy move could take “years” — possibly three to four — and there is no location yet for the new facility, according The president had already told Arab leaders on Tuesday that he intends to move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a decision that breaks with decades of U.S. policy and risks fuelling violence in the Middle East.

General John Hyten, the Head of United States Strategic Command on Saturday says countries like Russia and China may be building weapons that can target space-based US military assets like satellites. Gen. Hyten, who oversees all US military operations in space, stated this while making a presentation at the Reagan National Defense Forum in Simi Valley, California. He vowed not to allow this happen.
