Former Republican presidential candidate and Arizona Senator, John Mccain has be diagnosed with brain cancer known as glioblastoma. According to The Guardian, the development was made known in a statement issued by a Mccain's office. The statement hinted that the 80 year old Senator was recuperating fast and would resume legislative duties soon.
It added that doctors attending to the Senator are considering further treatments which may include chemotherapy and radiation.
Although the specific date of return was not stated, it was gathered that his continued absence has stalled the vote on the Senate Republican bill which seeks to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) otherwise known as Obamacare. The consideration and possible vote on the Bill which was scheduled for Monday this week, has been suspended indefinitely.
Meanwhile, the Senator has continued to receive goodwill messages from high profile politicians. On Tuesday, the former President Barrack Obama tweeted “John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I’ve ever known. Cancer doesn’t know what it’s up against. Give it hell, John.”
President Donald Trump in his message said “Senator John McCain has always been a fighter. Melania and I send our thoughts and prayers to Senator McCain, Cindy, and their entire family. Get well soon.” He added that "We hope John McCain gets better very soon because we miss him. He’s a crusty voice in Washington. Plus we need his vote. And he’ll be back.”
