Coronavirus Update: Hope Rises As Nigeria Record Lowest Figure In Four Days

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has yesterday recorded fresh 463 cases of the deadly coronavirus being the lowest in the last four days as the records show less than 500 in a single day. There were expressions of hope from some section of the society as this mark a decrease in the daily toll of the cases being recorded. Though, ten more persons were reported to have died as the result of the deadly COVID-19 complications pushing the fatality figure to now 754 in the country.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Africa has disclosed that there are currently 19 potential COVID-19 vaccines at the clinical trial phase. In a statement via their official twitter, the health body said, "South Africa is the first country on the continent to start a clinical trial with the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg testing a vaccine developed by the Oxford Jenner Institute in the United Kingdom. "The South African Ox1Cov-19 Vaccine VIDA-Trial is expected to involve 2000 volunteers aged 18 to 65 years and include some people living with HIV.

COVID-19: Nigeria Records 15 New Deaths

Nigeria has on Tuesday recorded 503 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, totaling the country's confirmed cases of Coronavirus to 29,879 with 15 new deaths, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said. This brings total number of death in the country to 669.

COVID-19 Update: Nigeria Records Fresh 571 New Cases, 16 Deaths

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed yesterday that it has recorded an additional 571 new cases of coronavirus with additional 16 new deaths pushing the death toll to 740. With the new cases being on the rise, the Nigerian number of confirmed cases for the coronavirus has been pushed to 32,558 as at yesterday evening. Although careful examination of the pandemic has revealed there is a slight decrease when compared to that recorded on Saturday.

Federal Government Launches COVID-19 Diagnostic Kit

The Federal Government on Thursday in Abuja, launched a diagnostic kit, RNASwift, for the identification of coronavirus’ causal agent. The acting Director-General of the National Biotechnology Development Agency, prof Alex Akpa, whose agency produced the kit informed that the kit would enable Nigeria to test five million farmers and laborers to ensure that the food security chain was not compromised by COVID-19.

Gov Oyetola Orders Total Lockdown Of Four Local Government Areas In Osun

The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has ordered the total lockdown of four of the local government areas of the state for one week. The lockdown is expected to commence on Tuesday, July 7, in the named local government area: Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East, and Atakumosa West for seven days in the first instance. The decision was the fallout of the meeting between the government and the stakeholders from the area.
