Amidst the spree of kidnapping that has bedeviled the North-West part of this country, the Katsina state government has come up with stiffer penalties to curb the reoccurrence of the menace.
Accordingly, Aminu Bello Masari, the Katsina state governor has disclosed on Friday that kidnappers and cattle rustlers are henceforth to face death sentence by the state government law.
Meanwhile, life imprisonment has also been apportioned for rapist amidst the clime with additional fine and compensation to be shouldered by the offender to his rape victim.
The Governor made this declaration shortly after signing two laws into effect; the penal code and procedure laws in the state.
Kidnapping and cattle rustling in recent time has been the major crime that has been disturbing the people of the Katsina state and has continued unabated.
The Governor been the chief security officer of the state has to take initiative on how to bring these crimes to its barest minimum.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday invited the Katsina state governor to the state house, Abuja to explain why the crime has continued unabated. Although their meeting was behind closed door, however, it may be unconnected with the current security challenge that is currently facing the state.
