The Senate President Bukola Saraki on Monday spoke on why he did not embark on an earlier visit planned for Geneva, Switzerland. According to his media office, the trip which was slated for Sunday had to be cancelled due to a number of pressing domestic engagements. There had been speculations that Saraki may have aborted the trip in an effort to fight for his political survival, following an alleged plot to remove him from office.

Following moves by stakeholders of the All progressives Congress (APC) to appease the national leader of the party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the party is reportedly considering setting up a caretaker Committee to oversee the activities of the party ahead of the 2019 general elections. The move is coming as the party holds its caucus and National Executive Council meetings on Monday and Tuesday.

One of the leading Civil Society Organizations in Nigeria, Socio-Economic Rights Accountability Project (SERAP) has rejected the plan by President Muhammadu Buhari to grant amnesty to repentant members of Boko Haram sect, urging him to drop the proposal. The group made its decision known in a letter to the President.

Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye has petitioned the United Nations, the United States Government, the United Kingdom and the United Nations over alleged threat to life. The Senator in a separate petition also copied to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris claimed that there was an ongoing plot to murder him extra-judicially by his political enemies who he claimed were working in collusion with the Kogi state Police Command.

The chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Taraba State Chapter, Ben Ubeh, is dead. Rev. Ben Ubeh reportedly died after he was crushed by a truck transporting sugar along Jalingo-Yola Expressway. Residents at the scene of the incident said the accident occurred in Zing community along the expressway in the morning hours of Sunday, March 25.

The Northern Elders' Forum, Arewa Consultative Forum and 16 other political and socio-cultural groups in the North have chided elected political office holders from the region over alleged non-performance. The groups made their position known in a communiqué issued at the end of a crucial Summit of northern groups held on 24th March at the residence of the late Premier of the defunct Northern Region, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Arewa House, Kaduna.
