The National Assembly on Tuesday said it has extended implementation of the 2017 budget till May 3, following delay in passage of the 2018 budget. Chairman of the House committee on Appropriation, Mustapha Bala Dawaki stated this during a public hearing on the 2018 budget organised by the National Assembly joint committee on appropriation.

The management of Independent National Electoral Commission said it has suspended about 205 compromised staff of the Commission over their various roles in the 2015 general elections. The Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu stated this on Tuesday while presenting a keynote address at the national colloquium organised by the Independent Service Delivery Monitoring Group, ISDMG, in Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buharti has promised to rehabilitate those affected by the recent attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the state, particularly those taking refuge at the various Internally Displaced Persons' Camps. The President's position was made known by the Governor of the state, Mr. Samuel Ortom. Ortom stated this while briefing State House Correspondents in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with the President.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday, while appearing before the Abuja Federal High Court, adduced reasons why they are opposed to move by the National Assembly to reorder the sequence of the 2019 general elections.

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Maimala Buni has condemned call for self defence by former Minister of Defence, TY Danjuma, describing it as unfortunate. Danjuma while speaking at the maiden edition of the Taraba State University in Jalingo had called on the people to rise up and defend themselves in the face of attacks from Fulani herdsmen. He accused the military of providing protection for the herders.
