APC Chieftain Remanded In Prison Custody Over False Allegation Against Bauchi Governor

Bauchi state police command has paraded one, Umar Mai Fata, an All Progress Congress (APC) chieftain before the Magistrate Court II for levelling false allegation against the personality of Senator Bala Mohammed, the Bauchi state governor on a live radio program.

Inspector Ayuba Danladi, the Police prosecutor who paraded the suspect on behalf of the commissioner of police.

 

The inspector informed the Magistrate that Mai Fata alleged that the state Governor took the sum of N1 billion from the state coffers to fund the recent concluded Bayelsa state gubernatorial election being the Chairman of the PDP campaign committee.

 

During the court proceeding, Barrister Usman Bappah, counsel to the respondent demanded that Mai Fata within five minutes can go outside the court and bring in any legal document that can substantiate his claim.

 

Subsequently, 30 minutes later, counsel to Mai Fata could not return to the courtroom, the prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the hearing until the defence counsel is around.

 

The presiding magistrate, Safiya Doma in her ruling adjoined the sitting until 23rd November, 2019 where she ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody until the said date.
