Incumbent Governor of Anambra State of Nigeria, Willie Obiano has emerged as candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the governorship poll scheduled for November, 18. Obiano was picked as the winner of the party’s primaries as he garnered 1,070 votes out a total of 1,092 accredited delegates, in a race he contested unopposed.
Obiano was presented the certificate of return by Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, Chairman of the congress after announcing the results.
He said that Obiano polled 1,070 ‘yes’ votes, with 11 persons voting ‘no’, while 11 votes were declared invalid.
Chief Victor Umeh, Chairman, Obiano Governorship Campaign Team, appreciated the party for a smooth conduct of the primaries and stated that campaigns would start “immediately”.
