The President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki has said that the verdict of the Appeal Court which dropped 15 out of 18 appeals was a vindication for him.

In a statement issued by Yusuph Olaniyonu, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Saraki insisted that upholding a no case submission for 15 out of 18 cases was a vindication for him.

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja, chaired by Mr. Danladi Umar, had discharged and acquitted Saraki on 14 July over allegations of false assets declaration. His ground was that the prosecution failed to prove its case.

Major General Rogers Nicholas, the newly appointed Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole on Monday took over from his predecessor, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru. During the handing over ceremony held at the Military Command and Control centre, Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri, Maj. Gen. Rogers urged members of Boko Haram sect to lay down their arms and join the federal government to rebuild the state.

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave for Paris Monday, to participate alongside over 50 world leaders in the One Planet Summit.

Buhari is being accompanied to the summit which opens on Tuesday, by three governors and two ministers.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted Senator Isah Misau bail on self-recognition. Misau who represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District, was arraigned by the Attorney General on a 10-count charge bordering on forgery and other related offences.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for successfully conducting its national convention.

Mr Obinna Nwaka, NYCN’s Director, Political and Democratic Matters, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja said that PDP should consolidate on the success of the convention and move forward.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Mr Damishi Sango, and four others, who were abducted on Thursday have regained their freedom.

According to the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in the state, Mr John Akans, they regained their freedom on Sunday evening and are currently in a private residence in Abuja.
