The Federal Executive Council has given the Minister of Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, matching orders to end fuel crisis across the country by end of the week.

The directive was among key decisions reached at Wednesday’s meeting of the Fedearl Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has denied saying that he plans to run for Presidency in 2019.

Makarfi denied reports that he would seek the PDP’s presidential ticket for the 2019 elections in a statement by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Zubairu Sirajo, on Wednesday.

“The attention of Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi has been drawn to reports in some sections of the media, which seem to suggest that he has confirmed an interest in seeking to fly the flag of PDP in 2019.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has released 16 Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to elected members of the National Assembly from Rivers State to aid them in the discharge of their duties.

Three of the Vehicles are for Senators representing the State, while 13 are for members of the House of Representatives from the state.

Making the presentation at the Government House Port Harcourt on Monday, Governor Wike said that the vehicles were acquired to aid the Federal Lawmakers in the discharge of their official functions.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday wrote to the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Anthony Ojukwu as the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Ojukwu's nomination was made known after the President of the Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki read the letter from the President during plenary.

The Senate said it would pass the 2018 Appropriation Bill on December 9. The Senate took the decision yesterday after the Budget passed second reading. It also mandated the Committee on Appropriation to ensure that the report on the budget is ready before that date. Speaking on the passage of the bill, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki said;

The House of Representatives has resolved to probe the suspension of the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr Mounir Gwarzo.

Gwarzo was earlier suspended by the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, last Wednesday, over allegation of financial impropriety and to allow for an unhindered investigation of several allegations of financial impropriety levelled against him.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday mandated it’s committee on Capital Market and Institutions to investigate the allegations and circumstances that led to the suspension of Gwarzo.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar on Sunday returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) few days after he resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku announced his decision in a live Facebook broadcast. In the broadcast, the former Vice President accused the current administration of being behind over three million job lost stressing that under the APC, the country was drifting towards regional sentiments.
