The Kwara state government has announced its readiness to host a national amateur golf tournament in conjunction with Ilorin Golf Club from July 11 to July 16, 2016.


The Captain of the Ilorin Golf Club, Layi Maliki made this known in Ilorin on Wednesday during a news conference. He disclosed that the planned event would feature 250 professionals and all categories of amateur golfers drawn from all clubs across the country.


He further explained that the 72 holes event was packaged to commemorate the golden jubilee of the state, “Kwara state at 50”


Maliki also hinted that the competition will be sponsored by Bus Nigeria Ltd, a business outfit involved in farm produce, such as Rice and Sugar Cane plantations in Lafiagi, Kwara. He listed other co-sponsors of the tournament to include: Sterling Bank Plc, Lanre Shittu Motors, Yolas Consultants, Chelfom Ltd, Pyramid Ltd, Harmony Holdings, Kwara Internal Revenue Service, ICMA Professional Services and Duravil Engineering Ltd.
