Newcastle Manager, Rafa Benitez is reported to be wooing Chelsea's Winger, Kennedy to St. Jame's Park ahead of the commencement of 20017/2018 English Premier League Season. Sky sports sources reported that Benitez met the Brazilian international on Wednesday in London while he was attending the Premier League Launch and assured the player of a place in his team. According to the report, Benitez is confident he will land the winger before his opener against Tottenham on Sunday.

Benitez who is reported to be aggrieved over the perceived reluctance by Newcastle to strengthen the team hinted that though the Club had missed some key targets in the transfer market, he was working on solving the problem. "It is very hard because the prices are crazy. We missed some targets at the beginning and we are paying for that, but hopefully, we can find some solutions."

Kennedy was sent home from Chelsea's pre-season tour of China after he made offensive posts about the country on his Instagram page. The player had since apologized.

Reacting, the club stated that the player had been disciplined and expressed optimism that he has learned his lesson. "Kenedy's actions were a mistake that he will learn greatly from. His behaviour does not represent the entire team and does not align with the club's high expectations and strict requirements of its young players. He has been strongly reprimanded and disciplined."
