Microsoft has rolled out the first Xbox 360 system update in over two years, showing that it has not yet forgotten the previous-generation console.

The tech company pushed out OS version 2.0.17526.0 on May 22 2018, for the console, but the update didn't offer up any new features or rectify any major exploit that needed to be patched. It is north worthy that the release notes for the software update stated that it simply contained minor bug fixes and various improvements to the system.

A bill sponsored by New York City councilman Rafael Espinal is seeking to give employers a "right to disconnect" and ignore emails and calls from bosses after work hours.

If passed, the bill sets a $250 fine for employers who require staff to answer calls and emails after hours. Espinal's bill was inspired by a similar law that went into effect last year in France.

Companies with at least 10 employees would be required to provide staff with a notice of their right not to respond to after-hours communications, to be free from retaliation and to bring complaints to the city's Department of Consumer Affairs. An employee fired for not answering a work email after hours could receive $2,500 and possibly get their job back.

Google on Wednesday launched the Google Impact Challenge (GIC) Nigeria 2018 aimed at empowering the citizens to drive community impact.

The Google Country Marketing Manager, Affiong Osuchukwu, said at the unveiling in Lagos that Google would commit two million dollars into the project in form of grants to non-profits using technology to reach their goals.

“This is the first time we are running a GIC in Africa. Many African non-profits are doing great work with real impact, and we are keen to shine a light on them and give a financial boost to innovative projects and ideas.

Complaints have been filed against Facebook, Google, Instagram and WhatsApp within hours of the new GDPR data protection law taking effect.

The companies are accused of forcing users to consent to targeted advertising to use the services.

Privacy group noyb.eu led by activist Max Schrems said people were not being given a "free choice".

Google South Africa has on Wednesday, May 23, launched its first local Impact Challenge which will see funding awarded to non-profits using innovation and technology to get to their goals.

The search giant will assign $2 million (R25 million) in funding to non-profits in South Africa.

“Google is issuing an open call for non-profits in South Africa to apply to get their share of $2m in funding. Four non-profits in South Africa stand to win $250 000 each while 8 runners up will each get $125,000,” it said.
