Researchers Develop Pothole-Proof Road Technology

Swiss researchers are developing a way to stop potholes forming by injecting asphalt with iron-oxide nanoparticles that helps prevent cracks. Potholes are a common sight on many roads and the bane of motorists' lives. But 'self-healing' roads, impervious to cracks and potholes, could be around the corner.

Google is said to be developing technology that media companies could use to create stories similar to those found on Snapchat's "Discover" platform, a person familiar with the plans said on Friday.

Internet giant Google was reported dismissed an employee after he wrote a 10 – page internal memo that went viral over the weekend attributing the inequality in the tech industry to biological causes while criticising the company's diversity policies. According to Reuters, James Damore, the Google engineer responsible for the note, confirmed in an email that he had been dismissed for "perpetuating gender stereotypes.

Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce, the luxury car-maker will go electric in the next 10 years, its chief executive, Torsten Muller-Otvos, has told Arab News. Muller-Otvos was speaking at the launch in London of the Phantom VIII, the eighth generation of the company’s classic luxury limousine that first graced the roads in 1925.

Microchips

Wisconsin-based Three Square Market made headlines this week when it announced that it would soon inject RFID microchips into more than half of its employees.  The company says the implants, which are voluntary, will allow workers to open locked doors and pay for snacks and meals in its cafeteria similar to traditional security cards.
