The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) advocates for a 300% salary increment for workers across Nigeria. NULGE National President, Ambali Hakeem who disclosed this in Ilorin, Kwara State, also appeal to the Federal Government of Nigeria to revisit the Local Government Autonomy policy for improve service delivery at the grassroots.
He added that Local Government autonomy would enhance adequate security and pave the way for financial autonomy, thereby ensuring meaningful development at the grassroots.
Hakeem also recommends that the Government should cut down cost of governance, while establishing alternate source of energy through the use of natural gas that could be reinvested in education sector.
The President advised the government at various levels to subsidize transportation to the public for ease of movement. He added that government should also subsidize agriculture input for adequate food security as part of measures to cushion the effect of subsidy removal in the country.
