Presidency Petitions NJC Over Suspended Onnoghen

The Presidency has sent a list of criminal allegations against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, to the National Judicial Council (NJC). Vigil360 learned that the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, sent the petition to the NJC ahead of the Council’s emergency meeting on Tuesday (today).

INEC Names 144 Election Observers For 2019

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the names of one hundred and forty-four (144) observers that will monitor the 2019 general election which is less than twenty-one (21) days away.

Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has alluded to a plot to destabilize the Judiciary, saying it was time for Judges to stand and protect its integrity. Muhammad stated this on Saturday while performing his first official function by inaugurating Judges that will handle 2019 National Assembly, Governorship & State Assembly Election Petition Tribunals, on Saturday.

Members of Concerned Nigerians, a Civil Society Organization have warned the embassies of the United States of America, France and the British High Commissioner to Nigeria against making undiplomatic comments that could heat up the polity in Nigeria, especially over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.

The United State has said that it is deeply concerned by the impact of the suspension of the Chief Judge of Nigeria, Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari.
